An increase in Liver enzymes can be caused by a few things. High Blood pressure is one which I've had my entire life and when my doctor started noticing this she thought it was exactly that because I hadn't been honest about my extreme alcohol consumption.

I've since been honest with other treatment centers as I was in rehab for 30 days for alcohol treatment and they did equate my elevated Liver enzymes to my alcohol abuse.

They even monitored it because I was going to be given an experimental drug that supposedly supressed the urge to drink and also wouldn't even allow you to get drunk if you did drink.

However my Liver enzymes didn't drop enough during that month period and I wasn't allowed to take the medication.
