Did it Even Rain Today?

My Moment

I’m sitting in my car outside my house with the windows rolled down watching the clouds turn green with rain. A bluegrass band is playing a song about hurricanes. I turn my head to look outside and it almost feels like a perfect moment in time. One of those rare occasions when you don’t have any reason to wonder about purpose. Just being there in that moment is all that is expected of you. It doesn’t take long before it passes and the world engine starts purring once more. The green rain clouds turn out to be grey and the bluegrass band finishes their set. As powerful a moment as it may have been, the slow rewind back may prove more harmful in the end. But I am a writer after all. A writer can pull those moments out of the past. No need to hold true to truth or fine tune the greater details. My imagination will fill in the gaps and the reader will be none the wiser. I’m a writer writing about a moment that I can’t truly remember. Did it even rain today?
