I was an alcoholic for over 17 years. Quit for 3 and now I've been on and off again. I did the same thing about lying about my alcohol consumption.
And while I do admit complete blame, my main reason for doing it is how they ask about your alcohol consumption.
I believe the doctor asked me if I had more than 3 drinks a day.
My alcohol consumption was so far beyond 3 drinks a day that I felt embarrased to say just how much more it was.
So I would say yes but I would then say that I had no more than 4 or 5. In reality I was drinking more than a 5th of Vodka or Whiskey nearly every day.
The assumption that 3 drinks was on the high end just made my drinking seem too ridiculous to respond with the truth.
Just wanted to mention that. Thanks so much for all the information and such a well written article.
