This is where I have issues with social media, content creators, and online businesses. Everything is always this ongoing tight rope act.
Everyone’s playing the same game but some people pretend they don’t care about the game and others pretend the game doesn’t even exist. Which are both techniques used to win the game.
This statement about posting things that aren’t insurance related in order to drive more attention and genuine interest when you post insurance related content is still highly disingenuous and misleading.
The fact that you think it’s not, somehow makes this even worse. Because not only have you fooled potential clients into thinking you’re only using LinkedIn for, what, social engagement?, but you’ve also managed to trick yourself into thinking you’re not like the rest of the people on there. But you are, you just became a better salesman, not a better person.
I’m not against people making a living online or trying to sell things in order to do it. But don’t pretend to care about other things just to lower people’s guard around you. It’s manipulative and a lot of people will see through it anyways.
If everyone is pretending to care about things they post so people won’t ignore the posts they do care about, what’s really going on here? And how much does this scale going forward?
Social Media marketing is turning us all into liars who are unaware or just don’t care about what they’re doing. The only reason I get fired up about this, is because I’ve done the exact same things many times before.
But not anymore. I take a long look at my motivations for doing anything before changing behaviors to meet my goals. It hasn’t led to huge financial success, but I argue, there are more important things in life than dying with an impressive checking balance.
